VHDG is an independent initiative for contemporary visual art in Fryslân, supporting artists with socially engaged practices and artists who respond to and engage with their local surroundings. VHDG runs several programmes for talented artists and a network of young makers called Club VHDG, which operates as a peer-to-peer network for collective learning, development, and programme-making.
VHDG also actively collaborates with social partners outside the arts sector and supports artists who wish to develop their practice in this field. For Artist in Space, VHDG can contribute, for example, through a residency, a public presentation, project guidance in a social context, or a presentation. In some cases, a year of further development may be required before a presentation can take place.
